Anthurium Plant Care Guide: How to Keep the Exotic Red Flowers Blooming

Posted on: 23 Jun 2026

Anthuriums are spectacular tropical indoor plants loved for their glossy, heart-shaped red flowers and lush green leaves. As excellent air-purifying plants, they make a perfect luxury addition to your living rooms, office desks, or semi-shaded balconies. To ensure your Anthuriums remain healthy and produce bright, continuous flowers just like our fresh nursery stock, follow these expert care tips:

Bright Indirect Sunlight: Anthuriums love light but cannot tolerate direct sun, which can burn their delicate leaves. Place them in a well-lit indoor spot or a shaded patio where they receive plenty of bright, indirect natural light.

The Watering Trick: Water your Anthurium thoroughly only when the top one inch of the soil feels completely dry to the touch. Over-watering will cause the roots to suffocate and rot, while under-watering will slow down flower production.

High Humidity and Coarse Soil: Being tropical plants, they thrive in high humidity. Mist the foliage occasionally or place them on a tray filled with pebbles and water. Grow them in a highly porous, chunky soil mix containing cocopeat, perlite, and pine bark.

Feeding for Vivid Colors: To keep the red flowers looking bright and healthy, apply a balanced, diluted phosphorus-rich liquid fertilizer once a month during the active spring and summer growth periods.

Cleaning the Leaves: Dust can accumulate on the glossy leaves, blocking light absorption. Wipe the leaves gently with a damp soft cloth once every two weeks to keep the plant shiny, breathing well, and pest-free.
